Marty at Specialty Glass in Newberg, Or. here. Hey we have a 2nd generation Glass Shop. Typically I find in the Glass industry, that Auto Glass is seperate from Flat Glass. In otherwords, You don't find very often a mechanic that can do both. I am one. I dont know much about Auto Glass.
I have a question for you, We did a 2000 LX 470 2 years ago. The customer, for whatever reason, decided to go to Safelite a month ago and have another windshield replaced. After us doing the last four or five. They, Safelite, claimed we didn't put the rivots in the moldings and said they would do the best they could. They put 2 screws in each one instead, while blaming on us. Had the customer buy the last to go on moldings and told him to come back here. I am totally bewildered. Now that I have taken the time to research the application a bit I know realize that rivots deemed water proof are used to refasten. The customer really beleives Safelite. After 2 YEARS. Again, I am not a Autoglass guy, but I accept responsbility on whatever project I work on. Anyway, I've decided to take care of it myself. Is there any details or advise you might be able to give me?
