Smile replacement keys cheap and easy

I just got my replacement key
Bought the chip key on ebay for 9.99
Got this place to cut it using the vin Number for 30 bucks
http://www.toy-lex.com
Dealer wanted over $300 bucks for a key + hassle of bringing it in twice
The big bonus is now i know the key code and the key works;---yeah!!!

The key to key longevity (no pun intended) is to use locktite (med hold, blue?) on the little screw that holds the shell together. What usually happens is the screw loosens over time, then when you're trying to start the car, it cracks apart with the twisting motion. BTW, the battery is a CR1616.

Default If you need just the shell...

I found a really good place on eBay that sells TWO of these blanks AND cuts the key for you for $39.00. All you have to do is give them the key code (or even a photo of your key) and 3 days later you have two new keys. You simply transfer the guts from your old broken key into the new shell. The new shell is thicker and stronger than the OEM shell. I couldn't be happier and wanted to pass it along.

This is for folks that have cracked the plastic housing on their key but the key still works. This one fits Lexus but he has other brands available as well.

The place is called Rocket-key and is on eBay. Price is $39.00 for two complete keys already cut. Just add the innards (takes literally one minute) and you're good to go with about $600.00 savings over buying from the Dealer.

Model Year?

I have one brand new OEM for 2003-2007 LX. Unfortunately the only way to get one is to take it out of the new key which is around $200 at the dealer. My price will be $100 and I have 1 available.

Keep in mind that for $125 I can sell you brand new master key, original Lexus (Toyota) part (2003-2007 LX). I have original packaging with Toyota barcode sticker, part number, bubble wrap and can provide pictures per request.

You can also try Ebay and purchase used key with 50% chance it will work, used keys go for about $50~$60 and are cut. 50% chance because ther are 2kinds of transponders which look identical 98-2002 (older chip) and 2003 -2007 (newer chip).

You can program the key yourself but you must have another master on hand.

You're very welcome. They are great and much more heavy duty as compared to the original. I'm guessing we'll probably never need another one.

If you like those, you might like these silicone key covers from "The Jacket Store". They seem like a good idea, and the site has Paypal so I figured "why not"? I go to the Gym a lot and also drop my key from time to time so I figured it couldn't hurt. I now have a bullet proof key!

So if I have an older model 98-2002 can I still program the newer chip to work with my car? I found an 04 key because I need the inners for a second key so both my wife and I can have a functioning key. I found it dirt cheap for the inners and was just going to buy a blank and have it cut, but need to make sure that I can make the transponder work. Thanks
