Nitrogen Air Tires , Pro and Con
Does anybody have any input about inflating the tires with Nitrogen Air ?
The Lexus dealer says that they would remained properly inflated longer than with compressed air.

Nitrogen molecules are larger and therefore would not seep out as much as air over a long period of time. Contrary to what others say, this would be the only advantage. Some claim a better ride, etc. I have trouble with that!

Just left the LX470 at the dealer for a schedule maintenance, the 25000 miles.
I got a free loaner, an RX350.
The Nitro Air would be for the five tires $89.99 , I politely said NO.
For the 25K maintenance they charge $169.00 total.

I put it in my personal vehicle to see the difference. The pressures are usually spot on, and I haven't added air since I did the nitrogen back in August. As far as better gas mileage and tire life, I think thats a sales pitch. I think if the pressure drops and you drive around on the tires like that, it definitely will have a negative affect on tire life and gas mileage, but if you keep air in them and monitor your pressures, there is no difference.
I hate to not recommend it because my dealership does sell it, but I definitely would not pay $89.99 for it, personally.

The 25000 miles maintenance cost me less than they initially said, it was $127.94.
He continue speaking and mention that the 30000 miles check up will be $900.00.
We get very good service from Lexus of Melbourne , so far we never had any complains , good work on time, good waiting area , either a free loaner or they take you anywhere within 100 miles radius.

Yes, I have done one of those 30K services.

It seems that when my LX470 was service for the 25000 miles schedule maintenance a few weeks ago, they used Nitrogen air to inflate the tires.
First of all, I normally check the tires every 1 or 2 weeks and since the 23rd of January the tires are perfectly at 35 psi all around as of yesterday.
Is just weird that I have not had the need to add any air.
