Default 12V outlet not working

I recently noticed that the 12V outlet under the armrest doesn't work when I start the car. Only after driving for a bit does it "power up" and start working. I tested it by plugging in different devices before starting the car and then starting it.

Anyone have this issue? Any advice on how to fix it or is it normal?

This is pretty unusual. One of mine stopped working once and it was just a blown fuse. Did you check yours ? A blown fuse would prevent you outlet from working at all but it's worth a shot... maybe it's just barely damaged.

Thanks guys. I didn't check the fuse because it does eventually work. I guess it can't hurt to check it though.

Something somewhere is loose. Could be a fuse, could be a connection in the circuitry. Might want to check the ground on the outlet.

+1 Fuse

Or take it to your nearest stereo installation shop, they can inspect for any wiring issues underneath the panels.
