Default Heat not working at idle

well of course with the coldest weekend of the year coming up my heat stops working.

when I'm driving it pulls heat off the engine just fine but stopped it just blows cold air.

anybody experienced this? anybody know the culprit?

I suspect your coolant is low, possibly because of a leak.

If it's a coolant leak pray it's just the water pump and not the bypass hose O ring under the manifold.

I can't find the exact post right now but it has been mentioned in this forum that this issue could be due to a failure of the water pump. If this is the case, it's known to Lexus and covered by the warranty.

Check the level of the reservoir. Have you done any cooling system work recently? If so, there may be an air lock somewhere in the system. There is also a bleed screw on the upper rad hose. You can remove it and add coolant to remove that air bubble.

First things first....check the coolant reservoir and let us know the status and then we can follow up.

I hope you solve the issue but if not sometimes its best to let the pros handle it and they may save you money.
