30,000 miles Service
Going through Omaha this week and will be within 400 miles of 30,000 miles. Called Lexus of Omaha to schedule a 30,000 mile service. Spoke with Brad one of the service rep's and he indicated it would run me $439 out the door without an oil change or $489 if I wanted new wipers blades again no oil change. The oil had been changed at 27,754 miles so I am not getting a oil change. Is this about normal for the 30,000 mile service without an oil change? I know it is one of the larger services with the brake lines being flushed and new brake fluid being installed and the 2 interior filters and engine air filter being replaced.

Local dealer was quoting me a brake flush for $150 for my ISF. The air filters can't possibly cost $300. So either more is included in the service or you are getting taken for a ride.

The 30,000 mile service for a 2010 LS460 L in the warranty/maintenance book list about 10-15 things they do including replacing both batteries in the fobs as well as a brake line flush. My point was did this price seem normal for those who have a 2010 LS460 L that they have had the 30,000 mile service done. I took my friends 2010 LS 460 AWD SWB over to a Lexus dealership in a different state yesterday for it's 30,000 mile service and it was $440 something out the door and that did not include an oil change. And that included a $29.99 bottle of injector cleaner.

My 30k service on my 2011 LS was about that price range. I had a free oil change since I had purchased the car as CPO in December. I added $80 for road force balance of all 4 tires (well worth the price) so total was over $500. Service rep said that the 30k interval services (30k, 60k, etc.) are the most expensive.

Thanks Rick
With my sisters living in Omaha I am sure I will get to know the folks there.

I heard from a service guy at a Lexus dealership that the 30k "brake fluid flush" is more like:
- suck out "old" brake fluid from the reservoir (leaving existing fluid in brake lines/cylinders)
- pour "new" brake fluid into the depleted reservoir up to the "FULL" line
- DONE!
Any first-hand knowledge of the procedure?

Sad to say that's only half the job. Most 30k services are about fluid checks and maybe some diagnostic stuff. It's a great way for a dealership to make money on cars that don't require much service to begin with to give the customer piece of mind.

FWIW, my Toyota dealer did this job for under a hundred bucks and even did a nice wash and vacuum of my car. All done in under 90 minutes while I drank their fancy cappuccinos and watched TV in their lounge.

You are wasting money...you can do your filters, key fob batteries, wipers and all that other standard owner maintenance stuff yourself in my opinion. they will deduct each service you don't need. Just have them do the brake flush, oil (if you decide) and anything else that isn't quick and painless to do
