2010 LS 460 Extended Warranty
I just sold my 2004 LS 430 with 44,000 miles that I had for 7 trouble free years. it had the Sport Suspention package and was a great car that really enjoyed. It was my 3rd LS. Had a 98 LS 400 and a 2002 LS 430. I found a 2010 LS 460 with the Sport Package, one owner, and 8,700 miles. Reading the forum and talking with LS owners I get the impression that the LS460 is not as bullet proof or trouble free as the LS 430. It appears that the LS 460 is a more complex car than the LS 430. So far I have really enjoyed driving the 460 ( only have driven about 300 miles ) and I really like the interior/exterior look much better. I have checked around and there are several extended warranties available ( one is through the local dealer ). They are very comprehensive and cover most items but they DON'T cover the air suspension shocks. Would it be wise to purchase this type of warranty ( $2,500 for 96 months and 120,000 miles or $1,500 for 60 months and 75,000 miles. This is the warranty offered by the local Dealer. A friend of mine who used to be a Lexus Service Writer thought it would be a good idea. Maybe I'm having a little seller/buyer remorse. I feel I will really enjoy the 460 as I drive it more. The extended warranty would offer peace of mind and sure be nice to have if I had and problems down the road. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Go with a Lexus warranty if you can, and not an aftermarket. I just went through all of this and after hours of research I decided to cancel my extended warranty and play the odds. I have too many miles on my LS for a Lexus warranty otherwise I would have done that. Some people have had good luck with their aftermarket warranty, but the general consensus isn't overly positive across the board. Good luck!

An age old argument. Last month Consumer Reports did a study that found that less than 25% of consumers who purchased extended warranties ever used them. Even fewer ever got their purchase worth back in service when they did use it. I would suspect that with a Lexus, the odds are even lower.
I would agree that CPO would be a better option, but still...not if I had to purchase it.

I ended up purchasing a 6 yr/ 100,000 mile warranty from AUL Corporation that included everything that the Platium Warranty from the Lexus Dealership had in addition to covering the Air Suspension. Several of my friends have this warranty and have had good service with it. It was also less expensive. Thanks for your input.

I purchased mine through my credit union and felt good about it because I trust them. Got home and did some research on the warranty company, and immediately turned around and went back and canceled it. From research it appears only a few of the aftermarket companies are worthwhile.
