New car warranty at MB is 4years/50K miles; standard CPO warranty is 3 years/100K miles from date of purchase and is not really bumper to bumper. If it's anything more than that, it was purchased at time of sale for an additional cost.

cpo 3/100k is for lexus only

that's not the case for mb. for mb it's 1 yr/100k on top of whatever left on factory warranty

http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/cpo/warranty_info

and bmw is different too...

Sorry for the typo. I meant IF HE HAS 3 years/100K miles, that was purchased at time of sale since the standard CPO is 12 months/100K miles as you stated.

MB makes some nice looking cars, I would have to have a lot more money to own one.

That's correct it comes CPO 1yr/100 and then you can extend the CPO 2 additional years to make it 3yrs/135. My car has only been in the shop for maintenance only no repairs. I hope it stays that way and that's been since the first owner.

a fair question would be how much to get it to 3 yrs / 135 miles warranty

I extended the warranty on an '09 E320 Bluetec to 3 years/135K miles for 2295.00
In hindsight it was the right decision as the car had 14,000.00 (yes, you read that right) worth of warranty work in a 5 week period this spring that did not cost me a penny.
My assumption would be that the cost would be higher to apply this coverage to an S Class, but as the years and miles tick by I would be more comfortable having it than not having it.
