Seat cooling technology?
I recently bought a Ford F150 that has cooled seats with 3 levels (fan speeds). I hate to say it but it puts the Lexus seats to shame.
The seat cooling works so well in the F150 that I initially thought that they were not working properly in my LS460.
After a bit of research, I found out that the F150 uses thermo-electric cooling.
Does the LS simply run a fan, or does it have a cooling component to it?
thx.

Hmm. Well if that is the case, then maybe there is something wrong with mine. It is a 2011 with the sport package.
I had to turn the car off to really tell whether they were even working. You can hear the fan and feel a bit of air, but not much to speak of.
I saw other threads on this site that mentioned that it only draws in cabin air. Some folks were putting the rear mat up against the back of the front seats and seeing some improvement in air flow.
If there is a compressor somewhere, I'd love to verify that.

I noticed it only works if the weather isn't too hot. The cooler the weather is the more effective the seat cooling becomes. That means when you need it the most, unfortunately it won't work as expected.
I wish Lexus hasn't approved the new LS design and they read my post. They need to steal MB's idea where they have this great seat cooling system that turns itself down every 5 minutes or so for a couple minutes then it gets cold again (and when I say cold I mean really cold).

I really dont feel like mine do anything, but in all fairness I live in AZ so the seats are burning when I get in the car, but at this level of luxury they should work flawlessly . I had the seat pads replaced on both front seats but didnt feel like the seat coolers were working to well before the work was done

Just tried mine today in 99 degree 108 heat index environment and was surprised at how effective they were. It did however, take several minutes before the effect became noticeable.

A day in the garage and the "cooled seats"work?
First time lexus owner and got the cooled seats. I don't feel anything and the garage says it works. Any tricks to this? or is it the "Emperor's Clothes" feature?

Man, I thought it was just me but I cant feel mines either. I thought that since it was 4 years old, the seat cushions might just be pushed down plugging the holes for the air to come thru but I guess not. I had an RX loaner and I can feel it on that one just fine. Never gave it much thought since its newer than my car. Where do we go from here?

It's been really hot in Atlanta recently and I can say that the only time I can feel the cooling is when it is in the highest setting and even then it is minimal. There's very little air moving and what does move is not particularly cool. I can say that while it does not really cool me, it does help somewhat with sweating due to the hot leather seats when the cars been sitting out all day in the sun.
I need to bring my car in for my 25K check in a week or two and plan to talk to my SA.
