Default LS suspension problem

I have a 2007 LS 460L with adaptive air suspension and 65,000 miles. Lately I have been hearing a thumping sound when I go over even small bumps and sometimes the whole car seems to shudder (can feel in steering and seat of the pants) before returning to steady ride. Dealer in my small town where only a few are sold or seen for repair is stumped. Service mgr. admits he too can hear and feel the problem, but they do not know what component(s) to replace to fix the problem. One new shock absorber in the rear costs $1,100 plus labor. Anyone have any suggerstions?

Call Lexus and explain to them the situation....and see if they will send a field engineer to diag the problem.

Raise the car up so you can see all the shocks, check carefully on all shocks especially the right rear. If you see liquid/wetness around the shock, then the shock need replacing.

when air suspension gets old it start to "delay normalization" procces of movent.

If we are about the same, so try going on some "gravel" or some bumpy road for 500m (to make suspension working hard) and the get back on even road, and even then, for some like 10min of driving u should be able to hear "bumping" from suspension...if yes, it just means they should change suspension.

p.s. suspension, should be changed 2 at a time (if one of rear fails, they must change both rear).

had them changed (all 4) on my previous RX twice..they are really not that reliable..

Yes, shock should be change in pair. But that for conventional shock, say $100 US dollars a piece is a high end shock. Now you are talking about more than $1000 a piece before labor charge. How much money do you want to spend?
