Unhappy Passenger rear side of car sinks after sitting...

My 1994 Lexus LS400 (120K miles) "sags" or sinks to the passenger rear side of the car after it sits for a while. After taking it to my local mechanic, he said that it is likely due to a slow leak in the system that feeds the airbag (and I guess the air suspension). Once I start up the car and get going, it raises back up. According to him the part to fix the problem is over $1000. If it is noteworthy, my car has the suspension switch to lower and raise the car, which I never use. Does his explanation sound right or is there a less costly way to fix this? Thanks!

sounds about right.

do a search, this is a very common problem with the LS and the SC with the TEMS suspension. a lot of owners have replaced or retro'd their suspensions.

hes right it is an expensive fix, just do a search on air suspension and you should get lots of hits

I had the same year car and replaced all four air suspension shocks. the car is not on road any longer. Had the four shocks replaced about 500 miles ago all brand new from lexus. I'm selling all four, front and rear that cost me $3250 in parts alone.
I'll sell all four for $1000 plus shipping. u can email me at aassume@hotmail.com if interested.

Latest development... after unhooking my battery terminals and reconnecting them the car is stuck in H1 (high height suspension mode) after starting the car!! I've tried turning the car off and re-starting it, and flipping the suspension height toggle up and down but to no avail... any ideas as to what I should do? Was thinking I could try disconnecting and reconnecting the terminals again, but right after driving the car, so that the right-rear suspension would still be up to height... maybe since the right-rear was low when I disconnected the cables it tricked the system into thinking it was in a different mode or something??? Weird stuff!

I'm an idiot... accidently switched the suspension switch in the trunk to OFF after replacing my antenna... DOH! So now I just need to decide if I want to pay for a new passenger side rear strut....
