I have a 460L with air suspension ride adjustment with 49k mi. that needs a rear left shock absorber. I find the cost to dealer fix is $2,100 and needless to say I'm not happy! The shock alone is roughly $1250 plus $800 labor and it will need a 4 wheel alignment.
Anyone else have such a problem?

I just had the drivers side rear replaced on my 2009 AWD. It was done for $1500. It was covered under warranty. You should be able to get it done for less than what they quoted you.
That being said, if I was out of warranty, for just over the cost one air strut repair you can convert an LS460 to springs. I would go that route because all four will fail. Bank on it. They may fail twice before 100K miles. Who knows? Why pay $6K for a problem when you can fix it permanently for around $2K?
wow, constantly hearing about air suspension problems I sure am glad I dodged that bullet and my LS is on springs..
the piece of mind is worth it over the coolness factor and comfort of an air equipped ride!
sorry to all LS owners that have to deal with those repairs!

I have seen the oem air struts online for $900..any toy/lex certified mechanic can install it without much more effort than a strut/spring..in fact less work because no spring compressor is needed..just reattaching air lines..do more research with indy mechanics to get a clearer picture on what you up against. Im thankful my CPO covers struts
yeah i cant see anything hard with swapping them out wayyyy easier than installing coils. But honestly I was always scared out oem air suspensions I dont know how many lincolns I seen with saggin rears, not comparing lincoln with lexus but just the fact that when they go they are not cheap.
