Positive & Encouranging: Many Thanks!!
I've been participating in Forums (VW, Audi, etc) for 15+ years and have seen your type of positive & encouraging commentary only a handful of times. It's nice to read/see
Many thanks and looking forward to our future dialog.

The drain cap was on it good and it came off with the cap. I let it stream out till i felt it was ok to take off.
I did get apart later and replaced the o ring.
But that clip has me wondering. Anyone?

I just did mine today. It didnt have the grounding clip either. Its a 07. Is there a real purpose for it? I turned the cap till i felt it seated all the way with out over doing it. No leaks so far.

Solution: use a pair of pliers to pull it off before loosening the filter cap. Put it back once done. If your car didn't have one, it might have been left off from a previous oil change.

I know this is an old thread but would anyone still have those pics handy? Planning on doing my first oil change within the next month and was hoping for some visual aids. I've done similar oil changes on our other Toyota's with the same filter and housing and just wanted to get some visual aids before I started. TIA!

Thanks for that!!!!
I think one last question, will there be any plastics to remove from the bottom of the LS? I have the Sport version.
Freaking hate it when those tech over-tighten that little plug on the housing!

I am in the same boat like you. I got my 2011 LS460L recently and am going to do my first oil change next month. I haven't gone underneath yet therefore my info is based on internet.
Plastics - I believe there is a 10mm bolt holding plastic door to get to the filter. There shouldn't be anything obstructing the drain plug. I am going to put FRAM Sure Drain plug when I replace the original plug. I have it on my LS430 and oil change is a breeze.
You don't really need a tool to remove the filter itself but I got one anyways. You may already have it. If not, I highly recommend spending $5. This is what I got.

It was shipped very quickly, got it in a week or so (unbelievable as I was expecting it to come in a month or so), and appears to be very solid.
I believe you have 2013 F Sport LS460. Update your signature or mention it in your posts so that easier to answer.

Thanks for that. Ordered it. This'll certainly help.
Yeah, I have the 2013 F sport. I'm going to tackle this either this weekend or next. Although, our 60K service is due as well. Not exactly sure which of those services I really need though.

Sorry to bring back an old thread here...
Need some assistance. Last oil change was at the dealer. Damn asshats, of course, over-tightened the ****ing oil filter case. Tried the small tool from a couple of posts above this one broke one of the tabs! Argh!
Is there a comparable non plastic oil filter case? Saw the post about swapping out the inner tube but I'd like to just buy the part that is for our cars and that is not plastic. Any suggestions? Tried to search the net but keep coming up with the plastic one.
Now I have to buy another tool just to try and ****ing loosen this thing! If not, might have to ask a shop to just pry the case open for me to swap to another one.
