Smoky Granite Mica
Hey Guys,
I usually don't post in this forum, becuase I own a 94 LS400.. with 200k.. but I decided today that when I hit 300K, (and assuming my finances will progress the way I want)... I will buy an LS460. It might have to be second hand, but I'll get one.
Now.. in the meanwhile. I'm getting my car back up in shape Starting with a color change. I'm going to be painting the car Smoky Granite Mica. I think it will really update the look of my first gen LS.
I'm posting here becuase I want to ask for pictures of the LS in SGM. Particularly, if someone has the time, could you take a close up shot of a body panel, in the sun, so I can see exactly what the color looks like?
I read in the color codes post that the color code is 1G0 and I've passed that info on to the body shop. They are going to do a sample before the car is painted, etc, so I'll be able to compare.. but being able to see close-up pictures will help. And a few pictures of the whole car won't hurt either Thanks!

There are some good pics in that LS600 thread.. but in some of the pictures the car looks almost like a red/brown.
Also, how metallic is the paint? E.g. do you see the metallic flakes in the paint in the sun when viewing it close up?

Suneet, you are much better off going to a dealer and seeing one live. The problem with anyone posting a pic is there are so many variables starting with the camera that took the picture, to the upload, the download, and your monitor settings. I remember a couple months ago someone posted pics of their Verdigris Mica and several of us thought it was Smoky Granite!
Oh, and BTW, "second hand"? We prefer, "Pre-Owned"!

Is it just me, or does the SGM look much more "METalic" on the 2IS and 2GS, and not so much on the LS460?
I think I'm going to take your advice and head over to the dealer

I prefer the smoky granite color of the LS460L. I've compared it side by side with the IS and ES350. There is something different about it, although I can't put my finger on it. Might have something to do with the two or three layers of wet sanding or whatever it was they did by hand. I think the same goes for all the other LS460 paint colors. I agree, you need to go to the dealership.
