Check each 5 watt tail light bulb very carefully, as well as the larger rear corner bulbs, and check brake light bulbs, including the high mount third brake light on the rear package tray. I have had that warning light on my '01 and it is always a pesky bulb.

The search function is your friend. If you look up "taillamp", you will find https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...lb-is-out.html - the posts there will help you

Yup it's my damn 3rd brake light...
Now I have a reason to take out the back seat and remove the old blown sub or replace it

You don't need to take out your back seat to change the 3rd brake light. The FAQ at the top of this forum has a dead link to the instructions - actual link is https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ake-light.html - just karate chop the housing towards the passenger side, then pull up. It's very easy.

You do need to take out the back seat to remove the sub. It's fairly easy to do. See https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...-01-03-ul.html - wait until you have your new sub or repair kit before doing this. Also be careful when removing the rear tray - there is a solar sensor on the driver side air vent grille - it has a short cable and you can accidentally rip the cable or sensor out.

If you have an hour or 2 and/or don't want to spend $200-300 for a new OEM sub, I recommend repairing it. Go to SimplySpeakers.com and get the "Toyota Avalon, Lexus, 8" Foam Speaker Repair Kit, FSK-8M-Toyota". Clean the old foam off extremely thoroughly using a sharp knife/razorblade, then use the included tube of glue and make sure you have an thorough and even coverage for the new foam surround. I've done it myself and the sub sounds perfect, good as new.

Ugh. Why did they get rid of the red needles for the 04 update (ours are white)? I'd trade gauge clusters with you in a second.

Thanks stan. I removed the back seats in my is300 and gs350. It was a pain in the butt the 1st time, but get easier after
Also I'm most likely going to remove the sub. I have a 10" kicker sub in right now and I plan on installing my 2 kicker 12s

Default Tail light failure

I've had this problem before and was always able to find the burned out bulb. This time, NOT SO!! I looked and looked.

Finally, I realized it was the stop light up in the back window. I really felt stupid but I just don't usually look up there.

Check out yours.

It's easy to replace. Just move the cover 1/2 to the left and off it comes. The bulb replacement is easy from there.
