yea daily use of a car covers will give you more scratches if your car is black.

Car cover does not scratch cars, the dirt trapped on the car cover or on paint when you pull covers on and off scratch the paint. Same as washing, it's not the cloth that scratch the paint(but could), it's mainly the dirt trapped on your wash media which turn into sanding pad scratches the paint while washing.

Take care of your car how ever you want, I even seen people wipe down cars with paper towels so to each their own.

Funny, I have a friend who washes his cars in Dawn liquid detergent. Swears by it. His cars have no wax on them but surprisingly the paint is not faded or oxidized. Lackluster this is for sure.
