I wanted to replace my rear struts, and got hung up pulling the rear deck to get access to the top.

I didn't want to force anything, is there a diagram or pic from a service manual that shows how to remove it? I'm not seeing the clips or how to remove them. I didn't want to snap anything so I thought I'd get some guidance before going back in.

I found this thread about the seat removal, but it kind of skimmed over the deck removal.

Mine is a 2004 non-Ul if it matters.

Once you remove the rear seat back, the deck easily comes out via a few pop tabs located directly behind the top of the seat back. The subwoofer cover pops straight up before you pull the top deck.

Probably why it was skimmed over.

Okay, so the tabs just pull out, there isn't a release tab that needs to be pressed down?

You just remove bolts and pull forward the seat. It will give you enough space to remove the strut bolts. I found this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...del-ls430.html

I agree with doodoo, personally haven't done the struts on my Ultra yet. But I did remove the bottom cushion and the bolts for the rear seat to replace the subwoofer. I think the easiest would be to loosen the bolts along the top of the seat and then swivel it forward. I think the bottom bolts function as a hinge of sorts and you won't need to remove them. There are two black clips that hold the rear deck down, and then you should be able to lift up on both sides of the sub. It hinges giving you just enough access to the serviceable items, the tops of the struts being those items.

This is how I usually do it. No need to remove the bottom half of the seat. Removing the top bolts actually gives you plenty of work room. I was really surprised at how far I can pull the seats forward just by removing the three bolts that hold the top half of the seats.
