Are You Using Mobil1 0W-40 Oil in Your LS430?
If so, I'd like to hear your experience using the M1 0W-40 motor oil. Any change in MPG? What is your oil change interval? Any other experience you can contribute? I'm currently using M1 5W-30 and a Fram Ultra XG3600 over size filter. My OCI is 7500-8000 mi. I live in the central valley of California where day time temps easily reach +100 degrees for months during the summer. I've read the M1 0W-40 is a great oil. Thanks

I use Pennzoil Ultra 5W30 and a Fram Ultra XG3600 and am very happy... Just stay with a 5W30 synthetic oil of your choice. I do use 0W40 in my Jaguar V12 and the engine does seem to love the 0W40 but it usually runs on a 50 weight. Again, stay with the 5W30.

My last oil fill was Mobil 0W-30. Still running it.
0W oil will flow better than 5W oil at cold temps. I'm guessing the reason Lexus didn't recommend it is because it didn't exist or wasn't commonly available when our cars were built. Verify?
Corrected: 10W-30 should be 0W-30.

According to the Lexus oil chart on Post #6, 0W20 (shown as green dot) oil was specified for some Lexus models starting as early as 1999.

I've been using full syn 5w-30 (M1, Penzoil, Castrol) like the book recommends in the US. I'd consider running full syn 0w-30 as it is likely a stouter oil with higher quality base formulation than the 5w. Running 0w-40 very likely perfectly OK to run, although probably more expensive but not significantly so....maybe a good oil for Tucson area : )
If I had a newer car that had 0w-20 recommended I'd likely run 0w-30 in it, most likely after warranty period. They are slightly better for mpg but not sure I trust any Xw-20 oils in terms of long term wear on the motor.
