New Lexus Owner questions
I have become the proud owner of a 2004 LS430 with 50,000 miles. I think I need to have all the fluids changed regardless of miles, trans, brake, radiator, differential, etc. I live between Orlando and Ocala Florida and am wondering since the warranty is no longer a consideration if service from a local independent is wise or whether I should go to a dealer. I owned 5 BMW's prior to my new venture here. I love the car and did shy away from BMW dealers for service in the past.
All comments appreciated. This is a great source. Thanks.

Hi. Gratz on the car. It's a great one. You don't have to take the car in to a Lexus dealership. If u have a good service provider that knows Toyota or Lexus vehicles, you'll be fine. Some actually use a Toyota Dealership for their service work. Head to the Lexus Driver site, enter your vin number and you can look at your history.

I would personally take it to a knowledge able outside mechanic. The dealer will make you pay for services that can be done for fractions of the cost. I bought my car with 46,000 miles, and I took mine to the dealer for the 50k service. $500+.. big mistake.. nothing more then an oil change and checking a few things. I would have taken it to regular certified shop, but I was in a time crunch, and was in the middle of flying out of town for my dad's bday. All my maintenance now is done by a local shop who knows Toyotas.

I am sure you have some good indy shops there that specialize in these vehicles. Search around- google, yelp, bing. Maybe there is a list of mechanics on this site by state?

I would love to hear from some owners in the Orlando/Ocala Florida area and where they have their service done. Are Toyota dealer mechanics up to touching my new baby?
