DIY - Rear door weather strip replacement
The LS430 rear door has an inside weather strip that goes all the way around the door and seal the entire opening, and an outside weather strip that goes around the window and extends down to seal the gap between the front and rear doors. My outside weather strip is peeling/breaking apart.
Finally got some time this morning to replace them. Here's how I did it...

thanks for the write up. I did this same job last year. Now I'm noticing my front ones are doing the same thing too. Time for the front write up!! I need the part #'s etc..

Thanks RKW,
Just installed the left rear and your pix/description made it a 20 minute job I had put off for a bit. Previous weatherstrip jobs on other vehicles had turned into a pain so I had reservations until I found this thread during a search.
If others have torn or failing rear door outer seals....just an easy fix.
I did use rubbing alcohol to clean/prep the adhesive areas as the 3m product was not locally available. A retainer clip removal tool was handy and the weatherstrip I bought had a new clip pre-installed.
There is a small strip of adhesive near the clip to affix as well as the long patch on the front of the door.
Had the part shipped from
https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.com $75 pn # 6788850030 Drivers side --- PN # 6788750030 Passenger side
Thanks again!

Remember the pins
! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
If you order the front L/R seals, which are actually 6786350030 (R) and 6786450030 (L) they require THREE PINS unlike the rear doors which are held in by one pin and taped. I recommend ordering 1 pair of these clips 9046708219,
! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
90467-08219 (2) Indicates you'll need 2 of these pins, which are needed to pin the upper and lower parts of the weather stripping together and to the door itself.

Just because you can never have enough pictures in a DIY thread:
Clean everything once the old strip is removed
Most of the double sided tape got left behind on the door. If you use your thumb and moderate pressure in an upwards pressing movement, it comes off fairly easy. I also used a plastic razor blade.
Once you get it into the channel, you can just press it down and into place. Where my finger is, you can see that that section looks different because it is not yet seated into place.
The 3M adhesion promoter wipes are great for this. I had some left over from a different project... if you have to buy them, they are spendy... was like $8 for three of them from Amazon. While examining the passenger side during install, I saw that it too has a very small tear and will also need to be replaced. Straight forward job, 15 minutes tops... and most of that was due to the old adhesive being left behind.

Front was starting to separate. It wasn't this bad until I pulled on it. Hit up Bell Lexus and got the new seal and the two clips for about $40 shipped.
You will need these two clips. Due to their position on the lower end of the seal and the close proximity to the fender, you probably won't be able to salvage them. They are pretty tight and it's tough to get any leverage. One of them broke off at the head, so I used a screwdriver to push the guts into the door. These two clips are like $1.
Again, these seals are a pretty common failure, even if at a cosmetic level. I'm sure they won't be around forever though, so you might want to grab them. I'm going to do the passenger side, even though it was the best out of the four.
Pop the single pin and peel the old one off after you pop the two clips. The new one just presses in. Seat the pin and the clips once you have it in all the way and it is even on both ends and correctly seated. Took a few attempts for me.
Ten minutes and job done!
