Default Ls 430 engine ecu problem

New to the site , hopefully get some help
Had an ls430 for years now , had an intermittent key fob problem.
Brand new batteries in both keys , 3times in the last 6 months we have driven fine , parked up and came back and car opens fine but key is not detected , leave for a day or Two and it's fine and starts fine and runs fine .

Took the car to lexus on a trailer as it's not detecting key again , they plugged in and said its not accepting either key I KNOWThat they need not tell me that and charge £102 for the privilege .
They simply said we can fit a new ecu and give me 2 new fobs for the extortionate price of £1600 !!!
I'm sure his name was **** Turpin but he forgot the mask 😁

Anyone know who can repair the ecu if it's taken off and delivered to them.?
Car is an ls430 on a 2001 reg not worth a lot of money now but it's in exceptional condition so would like to keep the car.
Any help appreciated

Naah, you don't need a new ECU for sure. Lexus dealerships have been known to be called "Stealerships" (Much more appropriate)

Lexus cars are too reliable an never have problems, that's why they try to make the most out of you when you visit them.

I say talk to some local electricians and see if you can find someone trustworthy. Maybe a friend or a relative might know a good auto electrician in your area.

Does the car give you any message? Did you perform computer diagnostics. I'd say visit an Autozone, they'd do that for you free of charge, but I'm almost certain there isn't one in the UK.

If no one was of any help here and I doubt it, you can check the UK forum:

Good luck to you man, and if you couldn't find a solution, just rip that plastic ignition fob and replace with a manual key fob. I kid you ;D

Welcome to Club Lexus.

Many areas to check and the first would be to make sure the receiver-communication system is functioning. The shop manuals will detail the procedure for the specific computers that are implemented within the car. There are plenty and any one of those modules may be having issues when relating to the door-security system.

Other basics would be to verify that all the fuses are good. Along with the contacts in the fuse boxes.
