I finally took my 2006 LS into the dealership for the 80,000 mile check up and also needed them to check on the air bag light sometimes staying on after starting the car. Everything went well but they told me that it was producing CODE 1826 LEFT FRONT SQUIB. I couldn't leave the car for further diagnostic checks due to my schedule.

Question???

Have any of you had this same problem and if so, what was the final outcome to getting it fixed. Thanks.

"B1826" OBD code for Lexus LS = "Open in Front Passenger Side - Side Squib Circuit." The sensor that detects a person sitting in the seat may have gone bad, or a loose connection. If this is an airbag electrical issue, you should try to have the dealer absorb the cost since it's a safety issue - airbags are like seat belts. If they don't work, there is potential liability.

Very good point! I will definitely go that route and see what the outcome is.

I drive 1 1/2 hours to the Lexus of Bridgewater dealership in Bridgewater, NJ. They have been really reasonable towards me especially after they found out that my 2004 LS that I purchased from them was totaled by a guy who ran a red light and I only owned the car for 5 months. So I've been fortunate to get to know a lot of the staff there and always make it a point to have decent conversations with them about themselves, their families and they do the same with me. That's one of the reasons why I drive so far because they treat me like a person and not just a number waiting in the service area. When my previous salesman finds out that I'm in the building for service due to their Lexus notification hotline, he comes over to the service area picks me up and we go back to his office to chat like real men. Not saying that this will definitely help with the airbag issue at hand but usually when you get to be more friendlier with people then they will have some consideration towards you.
