Used 05 LS430 Good buy or ????? Audio Questions
I have an opportunity to purchase a 05 LS430 one owner all service with 68K miles. Supposed to be in excellent condition. Has the Mark Levinson Stereo, Navigation and other options but not sure until I see it tomorrow. The price is 22K. Is this a good deal? I was going to get a LS460 for a way higher price but this may be too good to pass up. Once thing that concerns me is the stereo/Nav. My LS400 had an old school stereo but no modern connections or capabilities. Does the Nav have a HDD and Bluetooth? I have an iPhone 5 and will it work in the 430? Does the cd player play MP3's?
Any help in guiding me through this would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks!

I believe $22K for an '05 is too much. I paid that much for an '04 but 5 years ago. Nav has Bluetooth for phone, but not for stereo. You need to get an aftermarket system like VAIS to play your music through Iphone.

Everyone will have a different opinion, but I think that $22K is not grossly overpriced for an 05 with 68K miles if it is a UL in great shape. I use Autotrader to check on current prices, but others have their favorite sources.

condition and maintenance history are everything, and cannot be determined without a close inspection and records. If exceptional, 22k isn't so bad, although hard to see how it would be considered a good deal..

In my area at least, it's over priced by around $4,000.
Is it a dealership that's selling it? What's difficult about the LS is they're usually few and far between, so sometimes people get desperate to buy. Don't get in a rush.
Also, I wouldn't pay a huge premium for ones with lower miles, the discount you'll get for one with more miles will far exceed any extra maintenance bills you'll have. Most of these have been well taken care of and have records.
As a comparison, here's a 2005 on Ebay with LESS miles and their asking price is $18,991 (my guess is you could get at least another thousand knocked off of it)

If you purchase and install a Vaistech SL2Vi unit yourself, you'll forget you even have a CD player. With it you can connect a iPod in your glovebox (or wherever you want a hidden wire to run to) and play your own music thru all the normal audio controls available in the car. It will be charged when the car is on and will turn off when the car is turned off. You'll be able to view an album name and and the title of each song on the Nav system. I paid $280 in 2009 for my 04 UL and wouldn't be without it. Money well spent in a car like this.

The thought on buying one with higher miles at a lower price is valid unless you drive alot of miles. As the LS starts gettting to 125, 130, 150k they get harder to sell as folks still see big price tags on repairs, warranted or not, and we are an "I want new" society. I think yur at a good mileage point and $20k would be acceptable if it checked out. As autos age the over the top gadgetry of some cars, including the UL, starts to scare some folks away also.
We are a savy well educated bunch on these cars but the majority of folks do not use this forum to see how bulletproof even the UL is with higher miles.

This above average LS I would think would go thru the auction at 16,500 ish plus auction expenses, trans back, some reconditioning. You really did not list colors, t belt done, tires, private party so there are some variables unknown. Good luck hope it check out. It is a well respected well rated car even 8 years old.

Like others have said, if the car has a good service history and is in excellent shape $22k would be acceptable. Not a deal by any means but not a totally unfair price, assuming the car lives up to the price.
