Coin Box Release Fix

Coin Box Release Fix
3 or 4 years ago the coin box release on my original purchase "like new" 2002 LS430 (>120k) broke. I effected a temporary repair with a piece of a girls hair clip to hold the box in place. My "fix-it-all" son effected a "permanent" repair using a blue coated paper clip and super-glue.
After removing the face plate and then the clip, he determined that the catch was broken right at the circular part of the clip assembly which he removed by pushing out the metal rod holding it in place.
Next he glued the broken plastic clip
Finally, he fashioned from a blue coated paperclip a "brace" and glued it as a re-enforcing support.
Then after it was dry, he reassembled it and voila, it works and appears stable.
See Attachments. Hope this helps somebody with a similar problem.

Addendum to the note above: FYI- the original failure was due to the retaining roll pin moving out of position and causing a misalignment of the catch hook....and subsequent breakage from opening and closing the tray. Making sure the roll pin is still in position would prevent the need for any repair on a current car where the tray is in the stage of "Hanging Up" some during opening and closing.
