loughery,
My motor was completely out, I guess it may have had something to do with me extending it out pass the normal settting (evveryday).
Check this out, I went to Lindsey Lexus and received the same quote! I just happened to order the part from Sewell because of our discount and they wound not meet the price. My service Mgr at Lindsey said they had to order it and that they cannot warrenty the part if it purchase their; they will only install their parts! What a load of crap! As I stated to the manager, this is a Toyota part purchased from a Lexus dealership and it is warrenty through the Lexus Corp. No comment. So, I just took it to Lexus of Silver Spring had it installed with no problem.

I didn't know we had a few maryland members on here. I live close to lexus of towson and agree to steer clear of there. Prices are insane and the staff leaves a lot to be desired. I was trying to buy an 08 is f in there before I got my 430 and wound up walking out from all the nonsense.

For those that have a weak ( barely turns or does not turn but makes squealing noise) or noisy telescoping motor (in/out) I will add to this thread or create another thread when I get some free time with the steps and pics, I took to fix my problem.
As you can see in the pic I wanted to know what these high dollar motors were all about. I learned complete disassembly was not required to fix mine...

If any of you guys with a failed telescopic motor do an install yourself it would be great if you did a how to post since all of us will eventually have these go out. I did my tilt motor with ease with help from this forum.

Correct... the bushing has a split in it so it can be installed over the nut as you noted. When a person is inspecting the bushing, they are looking for any deformities/defects which would cause binding of the jackscrew. But at $2, go
d replace it...

Might want to check out this thread:

Post #41 covers exactly what you guys appear to have figured out and the rest of the thread may be useful. Good luck.

Advice on This?
Can we bring this back to life? I just bought a used 2005 LS430 with 58,000 miles and the only thing wrong with it is the telescoping steering wheel. Tilt function works. But when I try telescoping I just hear a small squeak from what I would assume is the motor? I'm thinking I am hearing a squeak on the rubber busing talked about in this thread. Any thoughts or advice? I'm considering opening up the housing nd trying to diagnose and fix myself but don't want to screw things up.
Thanks!
Thanks!

You can disable telescoping if you wish so that you don't have to deal with it. It is an option dealer can set or through TechStream. I did that as soon ad I got the car 11 years ago and never really miss it
