My driver side door mirror on my 04 LS Ultra is going crazy. When I turn the ignition the mirror unfolds but it will not stop at the normal position it continues until it can't go any further. The part that retracts is slightly lose and I do not see how it can be tighted, if I apply the slightest bit of pressure it will stop in its proper place. I think that it is some type of spring loaded unit. Can the unit be repaired or must it be replaced?

I had a similar problem a while back but it was cause by a low battery. I was leaving my keys in the car overnight and it was slowly running down my battery. When I wouldn't drive for a few days, the mirrors would go crazy. I don't leave them in the car anymore and it hasn't happened since.

BTW, post some pics of you car with the black chrome wheels.

As for replacement. My 01 UL had mirror problems. I ended up picking up a mirror on ebay for $50 - which to me seemed to be the cheaper option than trying to have it fixed...

The battery was changes about 20 months and 35,000 miles ago. Strange, I will charge the battery and see if that helps.

my 2004 LS430 just started doing that on drivers side. It randomly folds and unfolds 180 degrees towards the front, I have to reach out the window and pull it back into position. wish there was a cheap fix.

I recently went through the same thing. Replaced the battery.... no change. Ended up replacing the mirror. Now it works fine.
