Unhappy LS 430 driver side mirror

Help! Someone bumped my driver side mirror and now when I start the car the mirror housing swivels forward to a detent that is past the proper position. The mirror adjustment switch cannot tilt the mirror inward far enough to see the side of the car. I can manually rotate the housing back off the detent so that the mirror can be adjusted properly. I have taken the housing apart, but cannot see how to reset the detent in the proper place. Does anyone have any suggestion other than spending a thousand dollars and replacing the whole assembly? Many thanks in advance for your help. John

Picking a used mirror from ebay wouldn't be more than 200 bucks, if you don't feel like you can repair it.

Give this a try...

Turn off the Automatic Retraction feature, then start your car and let the mirror housing move to the "wrong" position. Manually move the mirror housing back to the correct position. Turn off the engine and the mirror housing should stay in place because the Automatic Retraction feature is off. This should reset the ECU. Now turn the Automatic Retraction feature back on (cross your fingers) and then start your car. The mirror housing SHOULD stay put. With luck when you turn off the car, the mirror housing SHOULD retract to the closed position.

Default To RKW.....

I have the auto retraction turned off. It still "over rotates" when engine starts. Thanks for replying. John

With the mirror housing at the over-rotated position, what happen if you turn off the engine? Does the housing move back to normal or does it stay at the over-rotated position? It sounds like you may need to unplug the retraction motor (within the mirror housing) until we figure out how to fix this.

Here's a possibility... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...d-mirrors.html

With auto rotate off, mirror stays in position when engine turned off. When engine is restarted, mirror over rotates. It over rotates whether auto rotate is on or off. John
