I don't know if it is arrogance, monopoly mentality or what, but from now on I go to Toyota of Folsom for service and when I buy my next car, if it is a Lexus, I will NOT buy in Sacramento. I think they get their post-service ratings as we are all afraid to cut our throats and complain, have Lexus go down in JD Powers ratings and devalue our car. The cars are awesome but the service people need much more training in customer satisfaction and treatment, in my humble opinion. They are all nice people, but I just feel as if I am putting them out with my "issues."

Thanks to all for your kind responses.

I don't for a second believe that it is a Lexus of America problem. I think it is a problem with a few dealerships who do not value customers. Nalley Lexus in Atlanta is terriffic to deal with and tremendously customer oriented. They are responsive and professional. All they care about is making the customer happy.

Sorry your Lexus experience has been so negative. Have you (or anyone else having problems) complained to Lexus of America. No Lexus dealership wants a negative customer experience report. They all get graded on customer satisfaction and get severely "dinged" if it is not exceptional.

what was the serial number on your dvd you got? I am hearing so many different things on dvd upgrades. I have an 01GS430 with the original 2000 version 1 dvd and would like to upgrade to the newest version. Is it the same disk for all dvd based navigations or a special one for 01 models? I heard that if the serial number ends in 41 or 42 it will not work for generation 3 navigations which I think I have in my 01...so confused

I'm not sure what version you need on the GS, but I have a 86271-33042, Data ver. 03.3 if you can use it. I paid $50 and can't use it.

I am buying a new update today for my Nav system for a 2004 LS30. I had Lexus update it on Nov 06 and decided to update myself when the charges is $90. Can anyone tell me if it is a real problem to change the disk. I understand all I do is pull out the unit in the trunk and change the disk. It istalls itself? Any help would be appreciated.

You should receive a version 7 as that's the newest. Just unscrew the two phillips screws, it should pop up slightly, slide the switch left to open and the disk should eject. Place in new disc and slide the switch back to close. Go to the option screen and select MAP DVD. You may have to select your area of the country. Also, check the version on the screen to see if it matches what you have received.

Here is a PDF for installing the Nav DVD for all Lexus cars/SUVs. Scroll down to get to the instructions for the LS430.

http://www.lexus-parts.com/import/pdf/nav_install.pdf

Good luck - it's easy - once you have the diagrams!

My wife did it herself with our LS430 last time we updated and took some pictures. I did a DIY and posted in this thread, its a good compliment to the Sewell PDF.

Updated maps, updated POIs. Not sure about our gen nav, but newer gen navs get the 'I agree' replaced with a 5 second splashscreen that goes away on its own.

Is the Nav override disabled if I install this http://www.lexus-parts.com/parts_det...id=90137&all=Y in my 2004?

(Apologies for earlier cross-posting, got the wrong thread).
