New LS400 owner with questions
Greetings, great info on these old cars on this forum so very grateful you guys are here.
I was just given a '93 LS400 with (I think) 103K miles that has been neglected. No rust, looks like this car has great build quality.
Spent about 15 hours so far cleaning the interior leather, carpets, door jams, seals, trunk, engine compartment and fixing Power Steering valve leak issue, and replacing alternator, hood struts, power antennae etc.
Changed oil to 5W30 Mobile One. Began cleaning sun roof drains today and was able to feed about 30" of weed wacker line down both front drains. After cleaning the area with warm water and old toothbrush at least the driver front side is draining. Passenger side drain seems to take water but no puddle on floor on passenger side??
I plan to have the ECU rebuild with new capacitors due to some common issues listed by other owners. There is an Ebay seller / Tanin Auto in Racine Wisconsin rebuilding them using quality Japanese capacitors for $100 which seems reasonable. He will also replace the LCD climate control screen for about $75.
My Odometer only reads ~7,000 miles and was rebuilt with state required tag on drivers door jamb about 4 years ago then showing 96,000 miles when the timing belt was apparently done as sticker is present.
My tack and speedo needles don't move but the cluster and needles light up properly so am hoping the ECU rebuild takes care of that and wondering if anyone has seen an ECU rebuild cure that particular issue??
I also have the the cluster airbag light and rear brake lights (after pressing pedal) issues and the electric trunk release does not work but not clear what fuses to check?? Drivers map light is only over head light that does not work and swapped bulbs so it is not that.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Welcome, the FAQ will answer many of your questions.
The ECU rebuild will have 0 impact on your gauges working. You're likely going to need to send them to Tanin to get reworked.
The trunk hinge is likely the issue with the lights, the fix for that is here: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/lighting/bulbout.html

Yes, we can rebuild your cluster, climate, and ECU.
Tach and Speedo issues are in the cluster.
Give us a call, email, or message to order direct and save some money off of the Ebay pricing.
