Default Replace Fogs and Vibration on Start Up

Hey guys/gals,

So I have 2 main questions/issues for my 1999 LS 400.

1. Every time I start the car cold (in the AM or after 8hrs at work) there is a vibrations that I feel in the steering wheel/seat/anywhere on the car. The vibrations come and go like a wave and it starts off very strong and dissipates to almost nothing in about 2 minutes. I noticed this after I replaced my engine mounts with OEM mounts. Any ideas what's causing the vibrations?

2. My stock fog lamps have pathetic output. I want to increase output mainly for dark roads with tight turns so I can see the sides of the road and stuff. I have done research and there are 3 ideas out there. a) take off the tin sleeve on the stock 9006 bulbs to give more output, b) modify to fit 9005 bulbs or c) put HIDs in. I don't normally run fogs, only when I REALLY need them so don't worry about brightness factor and blinding motorists.

Thanks for the help!

That's funny i get that same vibration since I changed the mounts too but I'm leaning to it being my #5 coil because I snapped the bolt when tightening it a while back. my vibration only lasts a couple of seconds though.

I highly recommend NOT putting hids in your fog lights. Glare is horrible and you look like an ***.

Get new oe bulbs, and replace the wore out 15 year old HID bulbs in the low beams with some new Philips D2R 85126+ bulbs. HUGE improvement on my 98. Also polish your headlight/fog light lenses.

Sorry I'm a little unclear, do you recommend OE bulbs for the fogs? As in the normal 9006 or other fit?

Also, what have you seen improvement wise with the Philips bulbs in your low beams?

Yes, the fog lights aren't going to magically become crazy bright. They just weren't that great to begin with. The hid bulbs however loose lumens as they age, diminishing the light output so slowly you don't really notice. If the bulbs are original to the car change them. Make sure to only get a oe brand hid bulb(Philips, osram, etc). No cheap Chinese brand bulbs. Watch out for fake oe bulbs to on ebay and amazon. I got my bulbs from theretrofitsource. Had to email them for the D2R version of the bulb.

I see thanks for the tip man. I will look at my low beams. I agree the fogs have crummy light output.

properly installed HID fogs don't glare, unlike low's they're aimed down as it is (hence "fog" light).
