1Gen 20 inch tire size dilemma
Hi Guys,
Looking for tire size advice from knowledgeable 1Gen LS brothers. I have a 92 and have 20x8.5 +35et fronts, 20x10 +40et rears and BC coils (14K/10K). My dilemma is which tire package to get; option 1: 235/35/20 fronts, 275/30/20 rears; OR option 2: 245/35/20 fronts, 285/30/20. I know some are not a fan of 20s on 1Gen, but that's not the issue. I am not slamming it, just a conservative, classic two skinny fingers between tire and fender and no fender rolling. My goal is to have as much meat as possible, without rubbing. I heard that tire brand can make a difference with actual real life sizing. The tire is Bridgestone Potenza. Also, would like to run the BC coils on softest setting, as I heard it makes a pretty comfy ride on the slightly higher spring rate, which I have. Hopefully I didn't leave out anything important to assist with your answer between the two options. If so, let me know and I will add info. Really trust you guy's opinion more than online wheels shops..Thx!

i feel that both tire sizing is too wide and tall. with 20s you will not be lowering the car that much to get a two finger gap. have you checked the wheel/tire thread for estimates?
use tire size calculator to estimate the right size for correct speedometer reading. your stock tire size is 205/65/15.

from that website the best size for the least amount of difference (+/- 2%) is:
235/30/20 front 0.2% error
255/30/20 rear 2.1% error
you can go taller to 35 series tires, but i'm not sure if those sizes are easily available. you can go wider but i'm always hesitant to without more initial measuring.

all of those tire sizes arent guna be great if you are also lowering and running soft suspension
you are likely to rub the crap out of your fender liner up front and rub fenders when turning depending how low you go
if it was my choice id run a conservative 225/35 and 255/35 and decently stiff springs or 30 series as he stated^
if you just want a drop with 20s there are other choices than a grand on coilovers
