Exactly! - so far (knock on wood) haven't had any genuine Toyota parts break, even 25 year old ones, that weren't directly attributable to my own error (over-torquing, etc)

^^^^ Lol, wait wut?
None of what you said makes any sense with your statements above.
>>>>ALL<<<< bolts tend to shear off when over torqued.
>>>>ALL<<<< parts tend to break when you are to rough with them or apply forces to them they are not designed to handle.
It does not matter if they are OEM or aftermarket parts.
In fact it has nothing to do with being OEM or not, it's a matter of the hands on the part.

I have had aftermarket (non Japanese, non OEM) parts shear or break through no fault of mine, I have not had this ever happen with Japanese OEM parts, whether new or original to the vehicle, in 35 years of turning wrenches! - what is unclear about that?

I'm currently having a beer with a bunch of friends of mine, all of whom are master techs (including myself). Of the 130+years of experience sitting around this table, not one of us has had an issue with an aftermarket part shearing off due to the quality of the part. In fact every guy at this table stated that upon inspection, sheared off bolts 100% of the time were due to over torquing, cross-treading, dissimilar corrosion, or using a thread lock (or too high of a grade) where not specified.
In other words, they guy who put the part in F'ed up.
If you have never had an OEM part shear off, that's probably because it was factory installed, done at a dealer and/or by someone who knows what they are doing.... That's not indicative of the part quality, that's a sign of the quality of tech!
You draw too many false parallels, do not think critically of these failures and continually make outlandish blanket claims about parts and are routinely wrong in doing so. Please stop.
What is unclear about the op stating the parts were OEM and still broke?

IIRC the bolt which fastens the tensioner pulley onto the bracket is reversed thread so has to be turned clockwise to undo it not the normal anticlockwise direction.
If this fact was not known or observed the bolt could have been over tightened and therefore sheared.

On a 90 LS400 I had the rad inlet crumble, it was old and crusty, yes factory stock radiator. JB deal is an okay deal if your stuck far away from civilization. But best to just replace it, and the O riellys radiator is just fine, and likely the same thing all the other parts places have. Even the OEM unit could be sourced from china or ??? nowadays. GMB are good replacement parts, for tensioners, water pumps and other such things.
