Bought Friday - KEYED Last Night!!
I purchased my new 97 ls 400 Friday night, it was a one owner meticulously maintained, not a ding, dent or scratch on it. Last night someone keyed the hood. It is about 3 inches long and is all the way down to the metal. I am so so so ANGRY!!!
What can I do? Since it is all the way to metal I am assuming touch up paint is not gonna cut it?

a great body shop will use a combination of the accurate real Lexus touch-up paint and a wet sand/buffer multistage process and you won't be able to even find it
I worked at JM Lexus (world's largest Lexus dealership) and you would not believe the miracles they could pull off when getting a used Lexus for sale! Dealership are always screwing up brand new cars on their lot with little boo-boos, you have probably bought a brand new car off of the showroom floor and never knew it has had a little touch up work from a lot scratch, etc. - Same goes for door dings.
it sucks that this happened and isn't your fault, but money will make it like new!
if money is super tight, if you have a friend who paints (like an artist) they can apply touch up paint for you with their talented steady hand, and you will be able to find it, but it won't stick out like a sore thumb in most situations, if they take some time to do it very carefully and if the paint is not already sun faded from the original color.
if someone slops the touch up paint on, it will look even worse.

So sorry... know how you feel...had my new Toyota Avalon keyed after about a month... it's just not right, these people... there is something wrong with them. Hope you can find a not so painful way ($) to repair.

ouch! hopefully there isn't a dent so it can be touched up fairly easily. i've seen my friend sand down, touch up using the factory touch up paint, and sand again to blend depending on how deep, then bufff to a shine and the mark is 95% gone!
this sounds more likely to be an accident by a pedestrian, a rock hitting while driving, shopping cart or the like. being keyed usually constitutes the majority of the car's paint as in a whole panel or complete side.
