Timing belt change, cracked camshaft-sensor.
Hi everybody,
Yesterday i did the timing belt and waterpump change. Pretty nice job to do, but takes some time.
I only cracked the sensor of the right camshaft position-sensor. Forgot to write down the part number on it, or make a pic of it in the hurry.
Does anybody know where i could get the right one? Are all the camshaft position-sensors the same for the 1995 - 1997 LS 400?
I also noticed that the bearings from the idler and tensioner pully's are worn, so also need to order them soon. Where can i get them best? Rockauto?
Hopefully somebody can help me out as soon as possible !
Is it bad driving the car now? the check engine light came on, together with the flashing tracs light. i need the car for driving to my work. The engine seems to run fine !
Thanks in advance.
Poika.

all camshaft sensors are the same from 1990-1997 on LS400, however left bank and right bank are two different part numbers and NOT interchangeable between sides, Toyota called these #1 and #2 rather than LH and RH, respectively.
the Toyota part numbers are 90919-05003 (#1 - LH i.e. driver's side) and 90919-05004 (#2 RH)
no on rockauto, you want the real OEM bearings ie. Koyo, NSK, NTN. - best price is probably ebay
I would want to know what those OBD-II codes are that are causing the engine and trac lights to be lit, before I would give the OK to drive the car to work

Cowboy ! Thanks for the quick reply.
Where did you order the sensors? I'll try to order here at the lexus dealer tomorrow with your part-number, but probaly they won't find it (europe)
I checked ebay just now. they dont sell any OEM bearing for the belt. Where did you order them?
I really like my car, but when something is broken, it takes ages to order something and the prices over here are overdone compared to de US
And can i drive the car like this for a few weeks? The ECU is in a safe mode now i guess?
thanks!

this place has your bearings at reasonable price
another source for idler
any Lexus dealership in America will have the cam sensors - I am not an expert on Celsior, so if your car is JDM type, you will need to double check that part number is the same, yamae would know.
Sewell Lexus and Carson in California are known to have good online discounts of 25-30% off

the cheap way to have done this job would have been to order all of the OEM parts together at once in the Aisin TKT-030 kit
then you get AISIN Water Pump, KOYO Idler Bearing, NSK Tensioner Bearing, NTN Hydraulic Tensioner, Mitsuboshi Timing Belt all for $242 + shipping from repuable 100% feedback ebay seller
even cheaper here - $206

I like to identify the exact bearing and try and get it straight from the bearing distributors, but that is just me

OK, The part number for the sensor is the same as you said Cowboy. Price here at Lexus Amsterdam: 170€ = 220$
Idler pulley: 85€ = 110$
Tensioner with pulley: 146€ = 190$
All prices without 21% tax. But original from Lexus.
Ridiculous if you ask me, compared to the US.
I think i will go for these products.
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...544&cc=1187502
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...436&cc=1187502
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...452&cc=1187502
I read the codes on socket e1 - te1: 13 and 21
13 = RPM signal no. 2 (Is this the camshaft sensor?)
21 = Main oxygen sensor signal.

I dont believe that, Yamae. The engine runs ok. No lack of power, starts good.
Can i measure the camshaft sensor to be sure it's broken and it gives the engine code 13?
Thanks in advance.
