Default Need 98 LS400 Master Remote Key

Hi everybody,

After all this time I finally picked up a 98 LS400, with 94k miles in great shape from the original owner.

The original owner lost the master key and all I have is the Valet key and the flat credit card type key.

I read through several old posts that stated everything from being able to program a new cut master key using the valet key to needing the ecu reflashed.

I need some help on this. I need to get a new cut master remote key to work on my LS400. Has anybody gone through this scenario recently that would be able to steer me in the right direction?

Local dealerships are quoting me anywhere from $300-$600 to get a new cut master remote key and reflashing the ecu.

Any light you could shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks stock545i.

I'm probably going to buy a new master remote cut key from Sewell Lexus and try to work with a local locksmith first. If this doesn't work, then I'll try a local Lexus dealer.

Anybody in the Chicago area have any good luck with a local Lexus dealer with buying and programming their keys?

This is good info, however not sure how long it would stay up since this may be able to aid thieves... If given a long enough time frame in such scenario... I dunno. Saved to notepad though.

I want nice new keys for my LS.

EDIT: Damn, I have a 97.

useless to thieves since you need a current master key in order to register another one.

to register one without it you need several grand worth of lexus scan tool.

Default Need 98 LS400 Master Remote Key

Well guys, I purchased a cut master remote key from Sewell, had Woodfield Lexus do the ECU swap and purchased another key. Woodfield also programmed both keys. Back in business again.
