Key Question ... Help, Input Needed
Hey fellow members,
Need your help input on this dilemma please.
I have a 96 Lexus LS400 with the old key and a fob remote. I was hoping to get a newer model key with the built in remote, and have it cut to use with my 96 LS400.
NOWWWW...
Is it even possible?
If I buy a new key from Lexus, can I program its remote with my fob remote and have the key cut so it'll work with my car?
Arggh... hope I am making sense.
Please provide any info you can.
Regards,
-AM.

no, 95-97 had separate keys and fobs. 98-00 had the single key/remote
and no, it wil lnot work, different key ID and computer chips.
i think there is a company called Mikado that can make something like that for you that is compatible but as far as using OEM unmodified keys you can forget it for now.

Thank you for the input PureDrifter...
Argh, this is one of the most toughest thing to figure out. A few have told me that the new key would work, some have said otherwise.
Let me ask you this; isn't the blade size the same; can the new key [98+] not be cut according to the old key [96+] specs?

Didn't expect that my question will have a mockery made out of it!
Asked a simple question and was curious to know the answer, being a first time Lexus owner...
