Broken cam sprocket
I've had mine since 40k miles and now have 210k. Replaced everything I could that was common at 175k. Starters, belts, hoses, plugs on and on timing belt everything. Expected to drive my baby for a long time----then cam spoket broke bent values you know the story --- pistons don't look bad one scuff--- is it worth just doing heads or go with a used motor? And if the motor is the option do you need to pull the tranny during this or can you get by without doing that?
Bolts broke on cam spoket is what caused failure

The bolts holding the sprocket on backed out but, they have never been taken off before, a freak thing, took the heads off and the values were bent on number one cyl and the third one back, pistons don't look hurt

No because, I did the change I never touched them, 35k later and the bolts break, it may have started with one bolt and took off from there but, I tell ya I will never do one again with out replacing those cam sprockets.
