Default Adjusting timing belt

Is there another way of adjusting a new timing belt that is a tooth off. Other than taking down the front of the motor like you were going to replace it?

Nope... Not safely for the average DYI'er.

Well I have not done this on my LS, but on another car, I was able to loosen the bolt holding the tensioner pulley in place, providing enough slack in the belt so that the mis-aligned cam pulley could be adjusted by one tooth. I moved all the slack to the one cam pulley, made sure the crank and other cam were locked, and then torqued the cam pulley so it slipped under the slackened belt by one tooth.

I have not considered doing this for the LS, but I expect where there's a will there's a way. Be careful, of course.

short answer, no.

you would need to see all cam and crank markings simultaneously so you know which direction to correct for the off tooth. you'll have to expose the cam pulley by removing their covers. to see the crank marking you need to remove the main harmonic balancer. plus to access the TB tensioner you will need to remove the the serp belt tensioner pulley first. at that point you've pretty much torn down most of the front of the motor!
