Take off the lower plastic bezel, there should be two more screws at the 8 and 4 position.

Do you have any guidance on removing the lower plastic bezel? This is the bezel with the gauge dimmer and the trip reset buttons, correct?

dont know how true this is, but have read in summer grease gets sticky and this is what holds the needle down.
I have not read where it is or "how" to remove it. but on mine, a slight tap on the top of the dash, and it is working as usual.... post your results. I have had trouble finding the top "slots" , no trouble with the screws. a couple of photos sure would help..

Interesting. I can feel the slots at the top of the cluster easily using a straight screwdriver. I have not tried to release the clips until I can figure out how to get to the lower screws. The screws are hidden by the lower bezel and it isn't obvious to me how to remove that bezel. From the looks of the tabs on my replacement cluster and the position of the switches in the bezel it seems like it should pull straight backwards. I have tried that and it hasn't budged - I don't want to pull much harder until i confirm that is the procedure.

I believe that you are correct about the grease causing the gauge needles to stick. My experience is the same - if I smack the dash they start working.

The lower section is just held with clips, grap it and pull is the only advise I can offer, it can be very tight but shouldn't break.

The picture is for a RHD 1997 model but you can see the 2 clips located between the 2 plug sockets.

That worked, thanks all! The gauge cluster is swapped. The steps that I took for the swap are detailed here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...998-ls400.html
