Default Gauge cluster removal - 1998 LS400

I bought a used instrument cluster for my 1998 LS400 and I need some guidance on removing the old one. I can see from the replacement cluster that there are four screws at the bottom that are covered by the panel that has the instrument dimmer and the trip reset buttons. Does anyone know of any websites that might show me how that panel comes out? The removal of the cluster on the1990 - 1994 model is very well documented on the web but I cannot find anything for the later model LS.

Some posters on another thread helped me with this and the cluster has been swapped out. Here are the steps that I used to do this - I believe that this will work on the 1997 - 2000 LS400's.

Put the key in the ignition so that the steering wheel isn't in the raised position
Move the steering wheel all the way back and all the way down
Pull the ground connector off of the battery
Disconnect the lower bezel by pulling straight back on it
Disconnect the two electrical connectors and remove the bezel
Unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the cluster
Find the slots at the 10 and two position at the top of the cluster and push a small screw driver in there to release the tabs
Pull the cluster forward far enough to remove the three electrical connectors
Pull the cluster out

Some re-installation notes:
Line up the lower screw holes before you snap the tabs back in
Make sure that the electrical connectors for the lower bezel aren't behind the cluster when you put it back
The "check VSC light" will be on for about five minutes after you reconnect the battery
This took me about 45 minutes to do. It would take me 20 minutes or less to do it again

Thanks Club Lexus!

Hello. I too have a 1998 LS400 cluster that has issues. My temp gauge reads above the normal line and my gas tank shows mostly full even though it isn't. I replaced the fuel sender in the tank but the problem still persists. One change from the 98 LS400 to 99 LS400 is you can set the message center to blank. In the 1998 you can cycle through options like MPG and countdown but you can't set it to go blank. If I purchased a refurbished 1999 or 2000, would it work with my 1998? Would the blank option work? Thanks.
