what kind of key do you have??
my LS is a 96 and the key i have is separate from the alarm remote, but i had an 95 ES300 before and the alarm remote was built into the key. i was surprised when the LS was not the same.
i think i saw a key with the alarm remote built in to it in the celsior copy of hyper rev. does anybody have this key or know where i could get one?
i'm trying to cut down on the size of my keychain
(i usually never have to post cuz all my questions have been answered by other peoples threads. thanks a bunch for all the help!)

Keys
From 92-95 in all Lexus' cars, the remote was built into the key
In 96-97 there was a seperate key fob
from98-current it is built into the remote again, this time with trunk release, panic,lock/unlock, and windows

MY 95 SC has a seperate remote. The in key was from 98 and on. Maybe its different for the SCs. I think from 92-97 all SC came with a seperate remote from what I've read. I read that the LS had a in key remote from 92-95 though.

I've recently moved up to Lexus' from my Supra and wife's Camry. I have a 93 SC300 which has the remote button on the key. My wife's 95 LS400 has a separate remote with the door, trunk, and panic buttons.

1990-94 LS 400s have the button on the side of the key. In 95, Lexus needed to add more option after a lawsuit in which a woman approached her car and after pressing the "unlock" button on the key, all the doors unlocked and there was a guy hiding and waiting to open the door from the passenger side. She sat in the driver's seat, while the guy opened the door and joined her in the passenger side. After that incident, Lexus knew it needed to develop a keyless entry system in which only the driver's door would open with the press of a button if the owner chooses. It wasn't until 98 that Lexus had the technology to squeeze 3 buttons all on one key that perform all of the following:
For 98 and up the key remote does the following:
1.Press unlock once, and the driver's door opens.
2.Press unlock twice and all doors open.
3.Press and hold unlock and the windows start to open.
4.Press and hold unlock longer and the sunrooof opens as well.
5.Press lock once and all the doors close and alarm is set.
6.Press and hold lock and the alarm goes off.
7.Press and hold trunk unlock and the trunk opens.
Also, if you insert the key into the door, turn it towards the right and hold it, this will cause all the windows and the sunroof to close.
While we're on the topic of keyless entry, does anyone know if the "Smart Key" option is available in the U.S. for the LS 430?
