Is it normal for Fuel pump to go bad after
I was driving my 1997 ls400 down the fwy going about 75ish and noticed the engine bogging down to 65-70, and when I accelerated there was a slight delay before giving power. I decided to exit to have it looked at since i was near tech, and it lost almost all power and was trying to stay on but eventually gave out. Aftter testing the fuel lines for pressure, which there was he found that it may have had a bad coil, we replaced and it fired right up! I turned it off, and fired up without hesitation again. I decided to come back for it a few hours later and when i went to start it, it wouldnt turn, He checked the fuel lines and there wasnt any pressure, he feels we should have the fuel pump replaced.
Question, is it normal for the fuel pump to go out along with the coil? Might there be any other things that could be related or need to check for or be aware of (other potential problems)?
Thanks!

I replaced the fuel pump on my '97 back in 2007. Came out of class and went to start the car - it would crank, but not turn over. Got it towed to a local Toyota dealer and that was their resolution. I forget how many miles the car had it on then, though I know it was well over 100,000.
