Need directions on replacing timing belt. Any links?
Hey if someone could send me a good link with pictures and instructions on changing the timing belt on a 98 LS400 that would be very helpful. Please help...

But anyway, ls400beave; here are the links you need for removal and install for the T-belt job on your 98. The more ya search, the better you'll get at it in the future.

There are more tutorials around, read up as much as you can about doing the job so that it all gets done right. Even the link for the 90-94 might help ya out a little, just looking at pics. Good luck.

Yes it is "recommended" b/c it is an interference engine. The reason for that is just incase the cam pulley spins at all when removing it to change the cam seals. You can set the timing marks at TDC if you don't move the pulley. It's been done many times by many people without any problems, but if you don't have alot of experience then you should set it 50* ATDC.
