98 gs400 timing belt kit Part #'s
Ok i am going to get my parts for timing belt change. I just want what is necessery, like tb, wp, serpintine, belt and so on. If you can give me a list of what has to be changed and what should be checked like cam seals tensioner or what ever. Tried searching, but find gs300 not 400. will propably get from carsons so im getting price list together. Dont really understand the idler pulleys. is there just one that needs to be replaced or two and all these different tensioners. I quess im just confused.

You did not search very hard. Here is a thread that just came up a while back.

yes they do, but lexus only does that if they are leaking. Kind of if it aint broke dont fix it. So I wont buy that unless I need it. Just going to get the stuff im for sure I need.

Yea I checked that one out Kai. but I got quote from carson toyota for like 230 or 240 shipped. That was with tensioner, but not idlers. Didnt have as much as that kit, but some of that stuff I may not need. Im going to go the oem market I beleive after seeing not much different in price. carson was with tb, wp, tensioner, crank seal for ls470 i hope that works, and serp belt. Let me know if you think i need anything else or if you can get a better price. If the cam seals are bad. I will just goto local dealer and get them. they arent very pricy.

Here is the manual for the VVTI 2UZ motor.. You can clearly remove the VVTi pulley..
I will look for the section that shows the seals..

the idlers are a case by case basis. if they still roll smoothly with no friction and no noise i usually leave them alone. kind of up to your personal preference. the bearings can fail and then you're basically doing another t belt job to change the idlers.
