Default ECU Reset

Many in the GS forum have reported an improvement in performance by regularly pulling the ECU fuse and thereby reseting the computer to factory specs. Often, slow driving can be "learned" and result in a "slower" responding engine. I PM'd Gene Reed aka Mean Gene as my LS400 didn't have the fuse he referred to. Here is his reply:

Keith ( my Lexus tech ) & I pulled 2 LS4 fuse boxes open at the dealership & found them to be slightly different than that of a GS400/430. Just for kicks, I checked another 1999 GS4 & it DID have the mysterious "ECU-B" 20 amp fuse that my GS seems to be the only one ( of our membership ) that has - go figure!! Anyway - since your LS has two EFI fuses & mine only has one ( "ECU-1" ), Keith said that Lexus split the workload in the LS4 & said that pulling your "EFI-2" fuse SHOULD be the same as pulling my ECU fuse. He said that HIS practice ( even on the GS models ) is to just disconnect the battery when working on any electronics. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.
