IMO, those rims don't flow with the car. Hey trukn1, what kinda rims do you have on your LS400? I wanna get some bigger stock rims for mine. I saw some nice chrome 17" LS430 rims that I wanna get on my white 93 ls400.

Def no bashing going on here, as the Op asked for opinions on his car and he is receving them. Bottom line as others have said, if you like it then rock it. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Tell me about it. Is a pleasure that I just will not know nor can afford to comprehend with a clear conscious. ON the right car, or a younger car,,,maybe; but on my 92,,,can't do it. You can find some really good, quality rims ON a shoestring budget; however it will take you a little longer to do so. Remember, expesive doesn't always mean that they are better; although $500 would be a good down payment of some. Just be very careful with rims in the "economy budet" as there can be alot of low quality, and bad ones out there. My rims were like $700 and I thought complimeted the car very well. I still get compliments to this day and they re now 5 years old. Some, who don' know, even think that it is a factory opioned wheel. I just make it, with a little deceptiveness, LOOK a little better than low budget.
I know QUITE a few peoplethat would argue with you on that subject. Look up pics for member SKperformance. He has a 98/99 hat is pretty much slammed (on air) and I don't think he would have it any other way. The cheapest lowering kit would run around 300-400 bucks (lowering springs only). You could drop about an inch - an inch and a half and still be ok with ride height and comfort; even on not ideal roads.
With respect to the OP, not gonna thread jack. I have made it no secret that I am a baller on a budget and hence most of my mods have come as such; is all just a matter of how well you can get everytng to flow (it takes some time). My rims are Panther 404C's IIRC. Think I paid a little over $700 for them(back in 06), without tires, and they have really taken ALOT of abuse over the years, but have never bent/cracked once and I run them ALL YEAR LONG. Looking to replace them soon have my eye on a few that I like. OP,,, honestly ALL of my mods have been done on little/no budget (minus the paint job). Persistence does pay off. Just takes time to get things to flow.

......must be nice to spend 3000 on new rims.
lowering is out of the question in canada. how much is a lowering kit anyways?

well these were not cheap rims by anymeans, however one has a small amount of curb rash and there are a few chips if you look close. tires have one season left aswell, thus is why the price was 500. ive been watching the internet for the paat year and you must spend more money to get something really nice.

Anyways here are pictures with the black removed on the front, as i said im getting clear turning lights.
IMO at first i didnt want gunmetal rims, but when i put them on i thought it went well with the blacked out tail lights/windows on the gold. I thought it looks like a car that is unique, although it would look alot better when i paint the bumpers. Im just suprised people are hating as most of my friends said it looks "bad ***". I have an old school lowered custom dodge ramcharger aswell so im not putting "ALL" the money into the lexus either.
The only place i could find deep dish wheels was on here...i really cant justify spending $400 just on shipping.
Anyone have ideas on grill mod of some sort...I can possibly weld something up?

It looks sooooo much better without the darked out corners. It just didn't look right at all before. The rims, they're not my taste but it's your car. You like 'em, roll with 'em. They do look 100 times better then the stock rims did though.

Haha yeah, the stock ones are pretty bad but they make nice winter ones compared to the black steel rims. Yeah a drop would be nice, one thing at a time though bud, Engine mounts and strut bushings first. Are you guys comfortable with spending $$$ on a drop kit with 200 000+ miles?
