how can i make my car safe more gas i have a 1992ls 400 with over 165000 miles

Poor gas mileage could be caused by lots of things. Changing the Coolant Temp. Sensor is one of the least expensive ways to start. I just changed mine, will see what it did for me. Next on the list, will probably be O2 sensors.

I have a first gen just like you, I changed my engine coolant temperature sensor using the duralast part instead of OEM. I used to get just shy of 300 miles to a tank. After the change it brought me to about 320-340. 40 miles a tank for 20 bucks? deal.
