How do you get the TRUE mileage on a 98 LS400
Hi Folks,
As some of you many know I recently purchased a 98 ls400 with 41,000 miles on it.
My father has a suspicion that the mileage may have been tampered with.
How would I be able to get the TRUE mileage?
Thanks a million!

Car fax or something similar. If you go to lexus.com and on the bottom left of the page there is an owners section you can put in your VIN and see what comes up for maintenance.

Suggestions might be to see if the seller has any receipts for service or maintenance and look for mileage recorded on the receipt... Another method might be to register with Lexus and then see if any work was done by a dealer. The receipt there would show the mileage.

Thanks for the quick and excellent replies. I have actually already received a Carfax from the seller. I also already registered online on the LEXUS site. I also have some service history. Nothing looks out of place. I just wanted to know if there was a way you could hook up a computer to the car and get the TRUE mileage.
My old 96 Volvo 850 did have such a way. I think the way it worked would they would get the mileage off the transmission computer. I believe only the dealer could do it though.
Thanks so much!
