Default 22inch on 2.5LS? Yay or nay?

I've came across some great deals for 22" wheels when looking for 20". Searched the forum and all I saw was people with 20". With those cars, I see that they still have more room (before the drop, of course). So, I just wonder if I can put 22" on my 98LS. Would test fit them and answer the question myself, but they are all long distance sells, so I can't try them out before purchasing them. And help, suggestion and advice are greatly welcomed. I know 20" looked niced, but want to see how 22" looks like on our car. Any experiences? Thanks.

I think it'll be an overkill. Plus if it's your dd watch out for potholes.

Once I'm done with it, it will be garaged just like my 300zx, lol. Yes, I saw your sig. And those Sportmaxx 962 gold look nice, don't they? Nice to see a fellow Z'er on here. Here is mine

no. tooo big for the car.

only lexus car i've seen that needs 22" is the LS460 as it is visually (and physically) large enough that 20"s look too small for its body.

if you want that dub look then u can go 4 it, its ur car, i had 22s on my 1.5Ls, dropped the car a lil bit on the coils and i was turning heads everywhere i drove. it was a phase and i dont regret doing it one bit lol

there are a very few # of lexus owners on here with 22s that dont have Ls460s heres a pic of when i had my 22s and it was driven daily on the roads of NY

I'm not really want to go that big, but seems like there are some 22" out there that I can get for even cheaper than 20". Don't have all the money to just buy brand new ones from the stores. So I was shopping on mostly craigslist and found a few of them for around $800 or less. I know 20 is a perfect fit for the car. I'm just needing your point of view to help me out on debating on if getting 22 is a bad idea or not. And thanks Li Ls4 for the pics. That looks like some tight fit on there. Any problem with the fenders and tires? Did you have to use spacer on those wheels?

yea it was a tight fit lol as for the fenders, i had 2 shave all of them and pull the front a lil bit. i would have liked to go lower wen i had em but thats as low as i could go and still be able to drive the car with 245 tires on

Nice Z! Same wheels too lol. Unfortunately I sold mine couple of weeks ago. I live in a townhome with two cars and no secure space for my Z so I decided to let it go to a better home for now. I plan to get a Z32TT in the future though.

dont cheap out on wheels.
some $700 set of ghetto-fabulous 22"s will just make your car look like crap.

albeit, any ghetto-fabulous super chrome super duper heavy wheels will also make your car look like crap.

Agreed 22's are big , the right rim they might look nice but the front will never be able to turn full lock with out major modifications without flipping the fender inside out as my friend who did it to his. 20's up front and 22's in the back , is possible .

Dub look = yes. Classy look = no.
Those $800 deals on craigslist are very likely going to bend/crack in no time. Also look at tire cost. I think that'll make the decision for you.

x2. they would look ridiculous, and the whole body of the car would be lifted becuase of them, making it look like a truck. you'd have more ground clearance than my Jeep!

and then there's always this too.... just becuase they're big and chrome doesn't mean they're quality. i'd rather have a quality set of 18's than a generic set of 22's.

+1 wait a little bit, save up some money and get something that u would like in the size that you want. if u buy some cheap rims its only going to cause headaches when they bend/crack exc. and its going to end up costing u more to repair than buying a good set of rims in the begining

If u do go with 22s and u lower the car u can only get back to about stock height wit shaving and pulling fenders
