Made home on 4 cylinders
The car just cut out on me on the highway, lost most of its power. No CEL though, and when I made home, I looked under the car, and my passenger side cat is fine, but drivers side cat is glowing red.
So now, I know its the ignition and not the fuel, because otherwise the cat wouldnt be heating up. What is it most likely to be?
Ignition coil?
Ignitor?
ECU?
what else?

Well I just ordered a new ignition coil, they are both the same, so its not one, than the other.
I replaced the hidden one about three years ago, so it might be the one on top. However, when I replaced the hidden one I didnt use an OEM part, so it might be another lesson learned not to use aftermarket crap.

The passenger side one is circled in red. The driver side one is a little hard to get to. I wound up pulling the battery and removing the tray just to get a little more extra clearance. The pic is of a later model LS, but location is still the same. When mine went, I just went ahead and replaced both of them.

Hello,
one ignition coil is not running one bank. It runs 2 cylinders on each bank.
My driver side ignition coil went out last year.
Check your cats they are probably ruined after driving for 30 mins! Mine are!
